After 14 years out of the saddle, I've gotten back into bike riding. Not quite at competition level but doing 200+km rides in a day.
There are a few things I've found out about riding.
Most important is that you keep your fluids up - dehydration is obviously dangerous and potentially fatal.
Second discovery is that riding in a peleton (a big group) is far more efficient as you don't have to work as hard.
Now put these 2 things together and work out the conclusion...
The first few times I was busting for a pee, I pulled over by the side of the road and let loose.
Fair enough!
But then people looked at me funny when I said I'm going to pull over and have a piss. Why would I want to waste that much time?
They explained to me, it's just like a wetsuit... you just go!
Now I've found a new reason to like riding in peleton's! Especially those with female riders in them.
And he're me thinking that the chamois inserts were just padding for comfort!

True. Especially at competition level. But, I don't like pissing myself, but do like pissing outdoors, so when I ride (which is very seldom in the trail-less area I live now), I just pull over and go.

 Well I have allways pissed in my pants when riding my bike. But as fare as riding in a group with girls not yet. But I think I may joine one. The thourght of a girls pants becoming overloaded & the spray blowing all over me is just about more than I could take.

if you wear cycling shorts by the time you got them down or the leg pulled over you would have pissed yorself any way so its not worth trying particually for men just hope the ground isnt to bumpy

Must say, when I cycled seriously years ago I always stopped at the side of the road to pee - could never get used to the idea of peeing in my shorts!!

To heck with the pants, I watch for a pile of girls bikes along a fence row in the country and then take a break wher I can sit and watch them avoid the lines at the porta potties at the rest stops. Much more fun for me.

Does anyone know other sports where people just let lose in their pants?

Very common at marathons and long distance running. Particularly at the elite end. Paula Radcliffe, in the recent marathon at the Olympics shit in her pants: this is documented in her biography.
Catriona McKiernan also preferred to shit in her pants, as opposed to stopping, in the London Marathon, a few years ago. You could see it running down her legs.
Peeing is obviously easier and less smelly!

I pee while riding my bike all the time. It's easy hiding the wetness in black spandex...not so easy in blue. Ask me how I know!!!
